OV 25 and Remote Ballast

OV 25 and Remote Ballast

Click to view full size image

Here's a shot of a OV 25 on a old pole that still had it's old 400w MV remote ballast mounted. I suspect they never bothered to remove the ballast because the through bolt holding the arm is also holding the ballast so they just left it there when they converted from MV to HPS in the early 90s.

Anyway this is a rather strange looking setup as most remote ballasted MV installations predated the mass adoption of aluminum tapered elliptical arms and generally used a braced S style arm. The pole itself dates to 1964, rather late for a remote ballasted installation but I'm assuming the original luminaire was a OV-25 remote ballast.

Nice!

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.
