GE 8w T5 Germicidal

A GE 8w germicidal lamp.
Recently picked up some of these from eBay. They will be used for sterilizing any items that I order.
(even though I'll be ordering/buying very little for the time being)

I set a homebuilt 'fixture' with some of these out on the deck yesterday afternoon for testing (and so I could see them through the closed glass door)...finally got to see striations in action in a clear lamp. Weird.

I've never observed striations in a germicidal lamp but I've seen them in clear neon tubes. I figured some people on here may be digging out their germicidal lamps to build disinfection boxes. I like the etch on this GE G8T5!

I'm lampin...

Possibly, although other manufacturers have been known to use the Philips code.

@arcblue:
It was kinda cold out - upper 30's, maybe low 40's at most .. think that's why I got striations.
I too like the etch.

@Dan The Bulb Man:
I did wonder that myself with the Philips-style datecode

@Flurofan96:
Yep.
For now, any items I receive in the mail/UPS/FedEx/etc get opened & sterilized outside.
I've also started sterilizing fresh fruit & veggies from the store.
OCD. Maybe, but it can't hurt to do some extra safety.

TBH I think it's a bit overkill, but if it helps you, then as you say it won't hurt.
