From the sixties. Unfortunately they were torn down in spring 2011 including the very high poles and were replaced with Siteco SR lanterns in a twin arrangement (a pole with one on each side) with flat glass and HPS lamps.

These were MONSTERS, very huge! For (probably) 4 lamps of 400W each (MV) but only 3 were fitted in their late years. The light is emitted only from the inside, have a look at this picture to see what I mean. They don't emit light at their sides.
Diameter: 1.92m

Thanks magslight. I didn't know, I just copied the data from your picture.

I think there are still a few in Mainz, but they are fitted with HPS (maybe retrofit lamps).

Don't copy the datas from my gallery on LG. Many wrong things I now know much better I learned about streetlights the last 4 years very much I will remove most of the pictures in my gallery to change all datas to the correct statement. However this needs its time...

Do you think to take some pictures of them at night? I never saw live one lit and they have very used plastic bowls so no way to see into them during the day
