Restored lantern at it's place of honor.

As much as I like MV, for indoor use I have put a 7W incandescent lamp in it. This is how it looks.

Notice on the wall there is my selfmade ALH poster. :)

It was A LOT of work to get them looking as nice as this. When I got them, they looked like this.
I think they were "overhauled" at some point, which involved sandblasting and painting them and that destroyed their anodized layer which they originally had. The anodized layer prevents the aluminium from corroding but sandblasting of course removes the anodized layer. The paint fell off later and so the bare aluminium was exposed to weather and then it did what aluminium does, it corrodes and gets an almost white and rough surface. At this point, being aluminium, it does not corrode further. It can stay like that forever but of course it does not look good.
The good thing is now, after grinding the corroded surface off and polishing it, the outside of the lamp room is much shinier than it ever originally was LOL.^^
