This was called Areaflood. I spent many hours testing metal halide lamps in these during development of an improved GE/Thorn MBI-T 400W at Leicester.

It is very well made luminaire, robustly built and it keeps the lamps impressively cool with very little heat reflection back onto the arc tube. Its successor was not so well engineered, the lamps often did not achieve their full life in the newer luminaire.

James I like the design too and the easy of access to the lamp and control gear. It was indeed well made.
