These always came with paint covering the clear portion of he tube, some of this paint has been scraped off to see the discharge properly.
When I get more I time, I'll probably remove the rest of it.

The only other one of these I've ever seen had the caps at 90 degrees from the tube next to one another, rather than bent back on themselves like this.

Was that a little T8 lamp like this one or the 65/80w T12 type like the one I uploaded a couple of weeks back?
