Wow the outer envelope on the 10 watt lamp is smaller in diameter as well. What companies made the 10 watt lamps? Were 10 watt lamps special application or were any outdoor fixtures made with 10 watt ballasts? Thanks for the picture too George.

Cool!

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.

Lovely little SOX lamps.
As far as I know only GEC made 10w lamps commercially.

I'm always interested in exchanging lamps - message me to see what we can do! :)

Philips was also planning on releasing one after its SOX 18W, but they eventually decided against that. Interestingly though, during the early 1980s they did develop a range of miniature SOX lamps rated at 8, 10 and 18 W for a use on PL-S ballasts with a parallel starter, but again, those were never released on the market. James has one featured on his website (the largest version, see there)

Oh I would so love to get a 10W lamp

Weird to see a screw-based LPS lamp, though..!

It'll be all right in the end, and if it isn't all right, it isn't the end
