FCO versus Dropped Refractor

FCO versus Dropped Refractor

Click to view full size image

There are 3 refractor heads, 2 of which are OVZs, and there are 3 FCO (flat glass) GE M-250A2s.

Why did "lighting experts" decide that 150 watt lamps should be installed in all these heads?

Nice comparison. I wonder why the differences are so drastic between lights. Do the bulbs really dim out that much with age? Or dirty refractors perhaps?

BTW on a side note, sag lenses are different from drop lenses. Sag lenses are clear glass and look like FCO glasses, but sag an inch or two down rather than being flat. Drop lenses are deeper and have prisms to control the light. The refractors in this collage are drop lenses.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

Hadn't seen your comment 7 months ago. Thanks for the correction on the drop/sag distinction. I actually had to correct more than this post!
