Found this little gem at a hardware store on 9th and 43rd in Manhattan. The hardware store itself is relatively new, and all of lighting was modern, however I saw tattered and torn box behind the F96 lamps that had a few Mexican made Philips F15T12s from the 90's, and this so naturally I got it. It cost 6.99$

Looks like 4th quarter 1945, and brass end caps. Works - when I first lit it one electrode looked like it was ready to blow and it snaked like crazy but it settled down and operated normally after burning for a bit.

What you're seeing at the ends is mercury condensation. Common for 1940s fluorescent lamps to behave like that with large doses of mercury.

Wow. That's an awsome find.

Keep government out of the lighting industry.

Wow, nice! I wouldn't have passed it up for $7 either!

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.
