Somebody didn't like the optics of the prismatic lense of this B2224 shining into their front yard at night. A common 'fix' to this problem has seen many of these lose their lense for a couple of days and undergo heavy spray painting with black paint. There are quite a few around my hometown where this has occured over the years - some 'paint jobs' are really well done, see here...while some of the spray painting has been appalling and the above photo is one of them!!! (As well as the photo after this one).
There was a metal 'insert' available from Sylvania where it was placed inside the lense, saving somebody having to remove the lense and do this, see here. I have found one example of the B2224 where the power co has decided to be creative and forgo the usual spray painting fix and construct their own metal shield, see here.
These B2224's are notorious for losing their lenses in my neck of the woods, and a couple of years ago when this happened the whole unit would be replaced a Sylvania Urban - the same thing was happening if somebody complained about these glaring into their house. However the election of a new State Government two years ago has seen this stop and missing lenses replaced and offending lenses spray painted.
I have a couple of photos of the B2224 from my personal collection on my gallery already (here, here and here). Also here is a photo of a dayburning B2224.
