Spectral Tutorial Pt-10

Spectral Tutorial Pt-10

Click to view full size image

View of spectroscope setup with camera zoomed back out to reveal workbench, but one can also see the spectrum on the mid right. The camera is looking through a transmission grating. The distance of the grating from the lens is unimportant, however to get this view, it was right up against the lens.

Here, the camera has been zoomed back for a wide shot....it captures the clutter of the workbench and all the monochromatic and overlapping images of that clutter lit by the test lamp. In the upper left are some of my red plastic component drawers, on the left, centre some of second blaze (blue and violet lines) can be seen.

Overlapping monochromatic images of the dome of the fully run up lamp can be seen at the top, produced by the image of that dome over the top of the black cardboard shield with the slit in it. These images should make it clear just how important a nice, narrow slit is.

Manufactured articles should be made to be used, not made to be sold!
