This is sure, nevertheless, I saw other CFL, with elmag ballast, where the choke was placed between discharge tubes, e,g, Philips SL types.

These CFLs made from Panasonic brand. It had been produced in the same Japanese factory, than in the early 90s, the GE Compax, Panasonic Light Capsule, Tungsram Globolux and other magnetic CFLs. The wide "2U" tube is relic from this time.
