I've seen this fixture a lot of time during my childhood. My father certified public accountant office, had 5 or 6 of these above pots, and these were usually not in use. The lamps inside are HQL-R Deluxe 80W, having improved CRI and lower color temperature over standard MV lamps, because the use of improved phosphors.

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.

They uses standard colour MV lamps. I especially like this black version here. Are also well suited for general lighting. These are probably the original MV lamps. I bought lights to recycling center for 3 € / pcs.

I got one in White (somewhat worn, it really did some 16 years everyday). The original lamp still works but i use it with a raflector CFL to preserve the lamp, and connected it without the ceiling ballast box - keeping that one separately

This one Led retrofit lamp (PAR38) running with ballast, because i want to keep installation the original shape and to use the MV lamp maybe sometimes, when I find them more from somewhere.

In theory neither the LED or the CFL should care about the quite low impedance ballat (order of half Henry), but what may happen in case of failure of the lamp's ballast ? The Merc ballast in series might limit the current just enough to turn a "popped component" failure into "smoke and fire" failure
