I took this during the lighting meet last month but never posted it. The SOX fixture belongs to member 589 (Andy). It was truly an awesome sight.

Wow Nick your hair is on fire! I bet the shop looked cool under LPS lighting. I've only ever seen LPS lit from a distance. A storage place had them (could see them from the freeway) but they went LED last year. Other than that I've never seen LPS here.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

It's rare here too. The only remaining installation I know of that's somewhat large is in the parking lot of a factory in Liberty, SC. I believe those are 135W. The entire town of Easley, SC used to be LPS lit, but they've gone LED in recent years. Only a handful of LPS lights remain. I never got to see it at night when it was all LPS, just when the smaller side streets were (that was still really cool though).

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Cool! And I'm sure the startup on it was AWESOME, just judging by how my 55w SOX is

I bet it made everything in the shop look 'dead' though LOL.LOL

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...

It actually didn't get outrageously hot. This is only 180W we're talking about.

In all seriousness though, you legit look like a coworker of mine, although he's got much shorter hair.

Awesome picture Nick! Looks like the official orange light for Clemson These LPS/SOX lamps are really fascinating and I'm sure this one had a beautiful warm up show!
