This is what happens when you put a Cree 4-flow LED lamp in an outdoor fixture. It gets really dirty! This was in Yellowstone national park.

I remember when those Cree 4Flow bulbs first came out a few years ago now I thought they were (and still are!) such a joke for the very reason listed above. How is that weathertight or resistant to bugs? Literally you CANNOT really use one of those outdoors; even an open spiral CFL would be better; it would fill with bugs but might be somewhat weathertight.
