What is welded onto the feed in, never seen this on neons before looks like its older then me must be anchiet.

Interested in the history of electric lighting and incandescent in particular and neon glow lamps.

I think it's a mercury condenser. Old neon bulbs and tubes like stabilovolts contain mercury in addition to gas.
