Dude! I found a slimline and HO in the dumpster the other day. Fixtures aren't really worth saving but ballasts are:)

Very nice. Looks like an older unit, which makes sense with the green label Universal. Those are solid ballasts too!

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Often those older fixtures are more robust than newer ones too. Even if damaged or no use for 8 feet, they can be chopped down to make a smaller badass light.

This is in perect shape I want to keep as is for testing f96t12s.I have some crappie one's too now I can strip the balast out of those and turn it into a f64t6 with a 200ma electronic ballast.

T12/ t17 there's a reason they made heavy magnetic ballasts

That's what I'm planning to do with my F96T12 strip eventually, except I'm going to make mine F42T6.

@Don, they're kinda mangled, and I lack space... If you were in my area I'd give them to you, ballasts and all.

And yeah, vintage slimline strips are cool, way neater than the modern electronic ones! Though at one point I had the slimline itch so bad I wanted to just buy a modern junky soda can metal electronic ballasted one just to have one.

Awesome! The older slimline sockets like these had the same size plungers as HO sockets. The newer slimline sockets from like the 80s onward have smaller plungers and seem cheesier to me.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

One's toast, (plunger side) but the other one and the stationary side are fine.
