Restore find. For some reason, one ear (i think that's what they're called) on both sides are bent in the same way.

Yep those are the ears. They're bent because the switch must've heard something off the side and wanted a better listen. A pair of pliers should straighten the ears right out. If you need screws to mount this in the future the standard screws are 3/4" long 6/32 thread. If the box isn't nearly flush with the wall (which it's supposed to be, but often times it's not) longer screws are needed. At work we keep a jar of 2" long 6/32 screws on each van for the switches and receptacles. We keep a jar of 2" 8/32 screws as well for when light fixture boxes are too high above the ceiling.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

I have one of those in white. Does this just make a quiet click or a very loud "SNAP"?

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.

It makes a loud snap no matter how slowly i flip the switch.

Is it harder to flip than a normal switch?

A bit harder but not that much.

Hard snap switches require a lot more force than a normal switch, so I think this one uses Eagle's proprietary mechanism that is quiet and closes fast but opens slowly. Also, the snap switch version of this would be rated for AC or DC at 10 amps 125 volts (T rated) and for 5 amps 250 volts.

@Fluorescent05: I'm not sure if i'm following you're explanation correctly as my switch makes a snap sound when switched in both directions and is by no means quiet. But i don't have any other 'Snap' switches to compare it to which makes things a bit harder on my end.

@fluorescent lover 40: I guess so.
