Just for fun. Got the room lit nice and bright.

The F40 is fitted with a GTE daylight and a cool green.

You can tell that the half of the 8 footer I've sanded so far is much brighter than the rusted half.

What lamps are in the turret?

Don't be fooLED, T8 IS the worst thing to do to a magnetic T12 fixture.

The small turret has an industrial cool green F40T12/CG and a Sylvania GTE Daylights F40/D

The big turret has F96PG17-CW's and the lamps behind everything are F72PG17-CW's

I didn't see the grooves.

Makes me wanna find a F48HO turret for my Powergroove lamps too. I have a few 4' turrets but for bipin lamps so they're too long for a HO conversion without hacking up the channel.

So F48HO lamps are shorter than F40's?

Yes they're an inch shorter I think.

Yeah, they're purposely shorter to accommodate the larger plunger lampholders.

Perhaps you could 3D print an extention so that the lamps can fit into a longer fixture?

Just a small little plastic cylindrical piece with a metal contact to fit inbetween the lamp and the socket.

Similar concept to the socket extender used in E26 sockets to raise lamps outta tight spots...

Technically I could but the commonly available 3D printing materials aren't that suited for making stuff like this. PLA will soften at the temperatures that a PG17 runs at and ABS isn't very flame retardant. Personally if I really wanted a fixture I'd just get a modern bipin turret and shorten it for HO lamps. The turrets I have right now are all vintage, some even preheat and I'm definitely not hacking those ups.

Ah yeah that makes sense.. I hope they come out with better 3D printable plastics someday.

Yes they're an inch shorter I think.

I believe there almost 3" shorter

T12/ t17 there's a reason they made heavy magnetic ballasts
