Nice finds!

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.

Collector of lights and anything else that interests me as long as I have space for that particular thing!

Nice finds!

Thank you! I converted the strip to F40T12 and I might install it above my workbench using one of my snap switches as the switch.

Simkar! COOL! I haven't seen one of those in years. Home Depot and Builders Square used to sell all kinds of Simkar fluorescent fixtures back in the 80s and 90s.

Thanks! This Simkar fixture is unfortunately a soda can in terms of quality. It came with F32T8 junk.

That's why it's low quality because it's T8.
The Simkar fixtures I remember were all T12s built as solid as anything with heavy magnetic ballasts.

I could imagine the T12 versions being built way better!

Oh yeah they were! It took 2 people to hang a double tube F96 slimline fixture!

Probably the ballast was most of the weight.

Yeah most of it but they were also made of much thicker metal. Nothing flimsy at all about them!

I would love to find one of the decent quality ones then!

I think the older fluorescents in general were better built. I have a tandem F40 turret from the late 50s and it's a beast. Unforunately it's been retrofitted to T8 and then unretrofitted to T12 so it dosen't have the original RS ballasts.
