Why can't we just use led retrofit instead of replacing the whole fixture.

The whole town had 42 of these, I'm sure many of them have been replaced because most of them were last seen in 2008

Why can't we just use led retrofit instead of replacing the whole fixture.

Looks like a few left off Caribou Street. I would call the power company and ask if you could have them when they are retired. I would physically check to see how many and the addresses they are at. IMO

Do you think that could work here with Duke Energy? I'd like to have any old MV cobras or NEMAs here if they got replaced.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

No Duke Energy won’t let you have anything of their property. It’s a liability.

I wonder Centerpoint Energy would give me one of their streetlights, if they decide to switch the streetlights to LED... Never tried it though.

It’s a liability thing. They are preventing lawsuits from people being in their dumpsters, & also taking their property & getting hurt from it. When I worked for Duke, any time we changed a streetlight we had to wrap the head in cellophane wrap in case it shattered. I would have kept the job but they only paid their streetlight techs $18-$21/ hr. I loved doing only streetlights but lineman make double/ triple that.

A co-op might let you have one. Call UPP and ask them as well. I don't know whose lines these are but you never know until you ask. A large company like Duke or SoCalEd would not.

If it wasn’t so far away I’d go up there & swap a few of them out. Kind of interesting & weird lights.

You’re tax dollars pay for this,

Someone on here awhile back after being told NO did contact an attorney
And was able to sign paperwork to get around the liability
Issues and was able to score street lights,

I do remember that - But it’s ben awhile back,

The large companies do not want to spend any time on helping someone.
