Trying to put a CFL or LED on the dimmer can lead to destruction of both the lamp and the dimmer itself.

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.

Resistive dimmer is different from the usual electronic dimmer. The resistive dimmer controls the output voltage for dimming, while the electronic dimmer cuts away parts of the wave form to dim.

No more cheapy crappy Chinese junk, please.

All dimmers chops the current waveform, regardless if it is resistive, triac, phase change or electronic.
The only way you can control the output voltage, is by using a variac.

The "resistive dimmer" label usually means it is intended for resistive loads only. So internally it would mean a plain simple triac based dimmer, which may even get destroyed on other load type (the basic triac+diac dimmer tend to burn the pot on an inductive loads because of erratic triac switching leading to its overheating; generally triacs tend to fail with high capacitive loads due to too steep current spikes, exceeding the triac di/dt rating). Very often they fail even when they appear to somehow work (stable output, possible to adjust it in a reasonable range), so seemingly well working dimmer does not mean it is not suffering like hell inside.
And here it really does not seem like even anything close to "working well"...

To be truly a variable resistor based dimmer, it would have to dissipate half of the load rating. In such small box that would mean it would become extremely hot after a while, so no way to install it and use the way as shown.

No more selfballasted c***

...generally triacs tend to fail with high capacitive loads due to too steep current spikes, exceeding the triac di/dt rating)...

The smallest bulb shaped LED lamp is a high vapacitive load, because it have a capacitive font; when I use it without the dimmer, I can hear tiny archs start to jumping in the power plug.
