I like these columns - brilliant idea to place a small tiewire between the two arms. That probably brought quite some saving in using thinner walled metal for the arms. Very intelligent design, so long as the labour cost of adding the tiewire was less than the savings it could realise.

Given that this is a very common set-up in Holland, I'd say it was beneficial.

Streetlights are most often overlooked by society as we go about in life. I have had an interest and fascination for them since I was very little. I love drawing detailed city-scapes and the streetlights are my signature. They always play an important role in my drawings. Like Bob Ross' clouds.

The Dutch have always been the experts at squeezing the last few cents out of the cost of any product or service without sacrificing quality, very well engineered
