Bought a while ago.
Today, i bought 12!D batterry's and i tested it.
It seems to work very well! i changed the lightbulb to a Philips TL 6W/33

Cool! These lanterns were made by a company called Johnlite. I have a slightly older version of this one, seen here. This particular lantern was sold by Radio Shack from 1994 to 1998.

While they have a nice design, these things are unfortunately crap. The ballast is an instant start type, and only runs lamps at around 2 to 3 watts, so a new lamp will only last a few hundred hours at the most. So beware when running valuable lamps.
