It appears that Sylvania no longer makes their HPS lamps in the unique ET shape. This was the sight that greeted me at Menard's today. I see they didn't forget to add their signature off-center arctube, either.

You can find them on eBay...even Philips ET25's! (OK...it's a rebranded Sylvania. )

Time to stock up for those of us who like old technology!

Your mission - should you choose to except it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

Nothing has changed here, Sylvania never made their mogul 100w lamps in ET shaped, or at least not in a few decades. ET envelopes were only used in 250w and above, and still are

Bluehalide: yes they did. The Sylvania mogul HPS lamps (and 100W MV) were ET23.5 at least since OSRAM took over. You're likely thinking of the squared BT25 lamps, which GTE discontinued in the early 80s. The ET23.5 lamps are an ED/BT hybrid. A rounded elliptical shape with an undersized "knob" on the tip of the lamp.

They stopped using the BT28 and BT37 lamps for MH sometime in the past couple of years so it doesn't surprise me that they discontinued the ET23.5 too. It's too bad since it was a fairly unique shape. More interesting than the mundane ED lamps all over the market. I was surprised the 100W MVs remained ET23.5 even after they switched to ED28 and ED37 for the MV lamps in 2000 when they started making the MVs in China. The last BT28 and BT37 MVs were made by Sylvania in the USA in 1998 IIRC. For about two years they put their name on GE and Philips lamps with their own Sylvania packaging.

If this change only happened just now, then we can expect the ET bulbs to still be plentiful for a while.

Yea, hopefully. Then again it's still sad because it was such a unique shape that was still made (they discontinued BT28 and BT37 metal halides sometime around 2015 IIRC). I also have a 70w version of one of those ET lamps. Found it at Restore for $3 new in the sleeve.

Dave Silverliner has some CMH mogul base Sylvania lamps that are ET23.5 IIRC. Talk about rare lamps!
