The first of five louvered lights that will go in this room is up! I did this one already because installing it did not require removal of any of the 2x4 troffers. It is not permanently wired yet; just connected to a 2-conductor cord and plugged into the same switched outlet as my big Miller preheat industrial. It will eventually be connected to 12/2 grounded Romex along with the other four louvered fixtures I plan to install.

Also, the picture makes it look like the garage door spring is very close to the fixture...there are actually about 3 inches (8 cm) between the two. It's enough to install and remove the louvers and lamps, especially if you pull the spring downward a little.

I still only have 4 of the 8 fixtures...expect photos of the rest when I do get them.

Still just the one. Because installing the other louvered fixtures is going to involve removal of the T8 troffers, I want to have all the louvered fixtures on hand so I can do everything in one go. I still haven't heard back from the seller about the remaining four lights. I tried texting him about a week ago and got no answer, so I will call him later this coming week once I'm done with finals. I'll offer to help him remove the rest of the lights because they are NOT easy to install/remove by yourself!!

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

They probably aren't. Surface-mounted 1X4 troffers are bad enough, I have a great story about removing two (that are now mine) with power still connected, removing lamps from the still-on fixtures, disconnecting the still-warm-and-buzzing ballasts with power still on, etc.

Yeah me too! seeing these get me back to 2nd grade but now that school is gone but the lighting memories remain. It's fun to un hook the fixtures while running! Just don't touch the black wire. Z-zzzzzzzzzzzzzap
