The glowbottle is broken, I wonder if it got stuck and overheated? Suprsingly a few cutout starters didn't work, but eswatek gave me some working ones too

Odd that the glow bottle cracked open like that.
Cool that they are the four pin version - I have some of the two pin version.

Pride and quality workmanship should lie behind manufacturing, not greed.

Looks like that ceramic capacitor got overheated too.

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

The 100 watt fixtures do not work all that well in cold with 90 watt tubes. They are HELL on starters. The cutout type really stink in this situation because they cut out after just a few seconds, before the tube strikes and you are left with a dark fixture. I had several starter glowbottles that had broken also. The 1500ma must be rough on these things.

Preheat Fluorescents forever!
I love diesel engines, rural/farm life and vintage lighting!

I bet you could replace the starter bottle with a European bottle of respective size, no?
