Monday night football

I almost couldn't believe my eyes - a caternary mounted remote ballast stamped OV-20 with original "football" shaped refractor STILL lighting a major street in Enumclaw, WA as of November 2007! (Shh, don't tell anyone). More pictures to come of these fixtures, so stay tuned. This is a very early type of OV-20.

Beautiful Not even the LA area has OV-20s on span wires if my knowledge is correct.

May all the great lighting technologies have their place in history.

No...this is the ONLY area where OV-20's still light the streets (except for one lone OV-20 in Ruston, WA). There are still a fair number left in various thrift store parking lots around the area, though. Bear in mind that Seattle was something of a "test zone" for new Form 109 and OV-20 fixtures when they first came out, and used to have TONS of them. AFAIK all (or most) had already been removed when I moved here in 1976. HPS invasion started in the early 70's here and only in the last few years has white light (electrodeless fluorescent & LED) begun to replace it in some areas. Metal halide shows up here & there but even that seems to have succumbed to HPS. There are a few municipalities that have some mercs left as well as a few State Highway lights, and I know of two incandescent OV-35's as well.

I'm lampin...
