CFLs sure sucked back then. This thing is pretty heavy and gives off the line frequency modulation. It hasn't been used in a while, but it still works on original lamp. It's a series inductor ballast with a glow starter in lamp plug.

I have one just like that and from 1996....except mine has the older logo etch which has the meatball between the General (GE) Electric.....the lamp I have is from 1996...the Clrclines were the last to have the old GE etch design. I think 1996 was the last....not sure though

I have a few adapters like this...but the warnings are stamped in raised letters into the plastic and not on a sticker like this one...and mine have ACE cool white lamps
