I've never heard of these before so I decided to grab a box. They have lots more of these.

I think I'll just get the rest of them the next time I go there.

There are at least 10 more of these lamps there, maybe even 20, though most of the cartons have practically disintegrated. This was the best carton of the bunch. Does anyone have more information about these? Why did Westinghouse make a 50W lamp in the first place?

Also, if anyone is interested, the same ReStore has a lot of old (not sure how old exactly, but old) GE 25W clear incandescents, also in packs of 2. This, by the way, is the same ReStore where I found the four Westy 300W mogul base incandescents for the Holophane lights.

The 50w lamp was the intermediate step between the 40w and 60w lamps. Rated light output was 665 lumens. All lampmakers made them at one time, not just Westinghouse. Would you please do me a favor and save me 4? Thanks.

The original wattages came about because 40 and 60 were about equal to the brightness of small and large commercial gas mantels. A 100 watt was equivalent to a dual large mantle fixture. In the early days energy companies gave out light bulbs for free to try to get people to use electricity, 50 and 75 watters were "supersized" versions of the 40 and 60.

Are the 25w from the "Lightstyles for Lifestyles" era and in a blue box and A19 in shape with a horizontal C-6 filament?

They are in yellow boxes and the shape is kinda like A19 but with a shorter neck, like some 25W colored lamps. I don't remember the filament shape.

I don't know exactly how many there are, so I can't give an exact number. All I ask is that you pay what they cost me (either $1 or $2 per 2-pack, I don't remember) plus shipping.

Also, are you talking about the Westies or the GEs?

So far, you are the first person to request any of the GEs. I think there are 15-20 lamps there, but that's just a rough guess.

Sure. Looks like there's enough demand that I'll just get all of both types next time I'm there (which will probably be a month or so).

I am also willing to give up my pair. I bought them because I thought they were unusual but I'm more of a fluorescent guy anyway.

I think there are between 10 and 20 Westies. That's as good of an estimate as I can give.
