The truth of a matter, is not determined by how many people believe it.

These OSRAM (GEC) SON-R Lamps were introduced in the 1970's by GEC "Lamps & Lighting" Limited for use in the Hi-Saver High Bay Industrial Light they were made in 250 watts, 310/360 watts and 400 watts, the 310/360 watt model was designed as a retrofit for the 400w MBFR/U Mercury Reflector Lamp, sadly the last of these SON-R lamps were made in the early 2000's and ended Production when OSRAM GmbH Closed the Shaw Factory in 2004, anyway all is not lost as some users still use SON-R Lighting especially in Steel Foundries and factories where Dust is very high, but today the Iwasaki NHR250/I is used see HERE. apart from the bulb being silvered and then internally coated they use the Iwasaki Patent F.E.C. (Ferro Electrolytic Capacitor) to strike the Lamp in stead of the old GEC Patent Thermal Snap Starter. also the disadvantage of the Iwasaki Lamp is the price.
