Tungsram 42V 40W incandescent in an old Düwag GT6 tram

Click to view full size image

Tungsram incandescent bulb installed in an old West German tram of the Düwag GT6 type, made in 1957 for the Rheinbahn Düsseldorf. This bulb is for 42V as this tram employs series circuits of 14 bulbs in series (instead of 28 B22d bases there are 30 but those two just behind the cab aren't connected to series circuits), connected to catenary voltage 600V.

The rest that I looked at closely were made in China Spectrum bulbs so this was the best bulb . Maybe in the opposite part of tram there was another but I looked at the opposite part just from the distance.

December 2004.

LED-lighting is pseudoscience.
LED-lighting is only a generated demand.
LED-lighting came to life simply by business interest.

If from 2004 then it must have been installed when the tram was already in Poznań.

Tungsram have a HUGE incandescent plant in Nagykanisza...it makes all their incandescent and many other overseas brands too...not sure if it still runs though, just about every other incandescent plant in Europe has closed. Righi Licht in Switzerland, Danlamp in Denmark and Lidner in Germany were the last ones I think.

Outside of China, I think there is one plant still going in the U.S. and possibly some in India, but that is about all.

Manufactured articles should be made to be used, not made to be sold!
