Is it Deluxe white, color improved or warm white? Looks awesome.

Love the blue-green halo it's casting on the test board.

I don't know the exact colour temperature, the box just says "HQL-B DE LUXE" so you know as much as me now..! it's very pleasant to look at, anyway

I'd love to find an American globe mercury lamp. They probably would look excellent in a post top light.

That looks bizarre, hilarious, and awesome at the same time.

As far as I know globe shaped mercury lamps were never made in the US. However, 100w pear shaped lamps (I believe they were PS-25) were made with a mogul base in both clear and coated versions during the 1950s.

I believe this one is much older. A date code of VKY does not exist on Osram system, I think it is a badly printed yKY. So November 1977 instead of 1997.
We can also tell it is older because it does not have the gold coating of later HQL-B, and the colour is “Deluxe” rather than “Super Deluxe”. Both have a large-grain Yttrium Vanadate phosphor to deliver improved colour rendering, but the later ones with gold coating deliver still better red colour rendering.

Thanks for that, James. I did actually put 1977 in my original pictures of this lamp, Sammi must have typed it in wrong on this one Corrected now.

How do you decipher the Osram date code system?

How do you decipher the Osram date code system?

See here or here. Most of the various manufacturers are covered, although there are still a few that elude said deciphering
