It's probably fluorescent.

Your mission - should you choose to except it - is to save unique and rare HID lighting before it's all scrapped.

They do look kind of like a modern design for an LED fixture though. With how thin they are.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.
