This I got a few years ago,and it is a really good bulb,has protection incase it is dimmed too low and the arc does not strike.costed $13 or so. It dimes down to 17% or 7 watts which is 20 watt inc eq.

I bet it won't start any fires.

Nothing like the beautiful cool white light of a coated Mercury Vapor lamp and the soothing hum of it's magnetic ballast.

No, dimmable are only electronic. But the dimming feature ask for specialized ballast controller chip, what usually contain all protections as standard.

I heard since Westinghouse was bought out by Philips, Abco actually makes this CFL.

The future of street lighting is Induction, not nasty HPS lights or cr@ppy LED lights!
Preheat CFL's should make a comeback!
