I think these are great lamps, what a good idea to fit a K1 halogen instead of the normal filament.
I once tried to self ballast a 400watt mercury lamp with one of these, but couldn`t get the ballance right, it sort of worked best with a 110volt 300watt halogen tube, but the filament died after only a few minutes.
