This is on a large spinning ride at the MN state fair. Does changing the lamp's burn position while in operation harm it?

If the floodlight is installed on the ride that rotates horizontally, so the lamp remains horizontal, there is no problem. However if the ride rotates vertically, so that the floodlight aiming changes as a result, this can cause color instabilities as the location cold spot in the arctube always changes.
Is the MH lamp intended to be green colored, or it is simply greened out since it burning beyond its rated life?

Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

If the bulbs rated for universal burn possie, it shouldn't hurt it too much, I've never had any serious issues rotating flood lights and high-bays around when they're running

No, this is a true green lamp. It is a VERY intense and bright green that the camera doesn't capture. The other side has one of these but with a magenta lamp.

Any machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough.

Tilting a probe-start MH lamp (Even an universal burning one), can cause 20% drop in performance and color shifting. Univeral burning probe-start MH lamps can only be operated base-up or horizontal, as when tilted, there is an uneven temperature in the arctube, while in base-down, this can cause corrosion at the starting electrode area. Thats is the main reasons why the european arena floodlight performs much better than the american arena floodlights, as in the european sport floodlights the lamp remains horizontal regardless of floodlight angle, what is wrong regaring to the american sport floodlights. You can see more information here .
