A Comparison Between A Hungarian Made GE Halogen And A Chinese Made GE Halogen

A Comparison Between A Hungarian Made GE Halogen And A Chinese Made GE Halogen

Click to view full size image

The lamp on the left is a 72w GE halogen (Made in Hungary) and on the right is a 72w GE Reveal Halogen (made in China).

The Hungarian made GE lamp appears to have a shorter filament than the Chinese lamp (not sure if that means the lamp not last as long as the Chinese lamp) but it also appears the coil could be wider in the Hungarian lamp.

I have mixed feelings about the Chinese made lamps, over 2 years ago i got a 2-pack of the 60w equivalent lamps and both of those only lasted a month but i also have some under the CVS name that have been working for about 2 months and counting.

I don't have anthing to say about the Hungarian made lamps as i've never used them before.

Interesting comparison! I personally have had better luck with the Hungarian versions in terms of longevity.

One thing i've found out about the Chinese made GE halogens is the spot welds inside are prone to failing.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

The Hungarian halogens are pretty good from my experience. They will last as long as they stay away from vibrations from slamming doors, garage doors, etc.

Philips DuraMax and GE Miser forever!  Classic incandescents are the best incandescents!

Stop the lamp bans!
