Overhead Bathroom Light With Two Magnetic Ballast CFL's

Overhead Bathroom Light With Two Magnetic Ballast CFL's

Here's the overhead light in my apartment bathroom. Unfortunately, this light went EOL a few days ago after being exposed to water. The resident in the room above me decided to take a shower without the shower curtain in place, flooded his bathroom, and caused water to soak through the floor and into the ceiling of my bathroom, thus frying my light here. When I flipped the switch, the plug by my sink tripped and I had to press the reset button to turn on the other lights. I'm glad I didn't get shocked!

I called maintenance and they said that they would have to replace the whole fixture as the bulbs and the ballasts are dead, and I will be upgraded to an LED fixture over the Christmas break. I'm excited to have an LED fixture because this one made annoying "pinging" sounds and flickered upon being switched on. The two 13 watt soft white CFL's are made by Sylvania.

Each to their own, but I quite like the pinging sound.

On second thought, sometimes the colour of those PL fluorescent leaves to be desired, too...

Yeah, I don't really like the color of PL lamps. If this was in my place, I would have just gotten some new ballasts and fixed it.

I would fix that and put GE F13BX/841 lamps in it.

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.

Better make sure the guy above doesn't flood his place again

This fixture can be easily repaired , I would at least keep it if is was my place

I think this is cool. These BIAX are my favourite CFL. I have loads in use around mine abd my parents place and they use the 11w version in road Sign lights here in the UK

Me as well, I would salvage the whole lamp. Probably you can dry out the ballasts and make them work again.
And yeah, I like the pinging sound and the flickering as well... In my room, I've mounted 11 fixtures, each is a twin F18T8, on switchstart series circuit. This is quite a blink-happy start and i like it. But as sol said: Each to their own.

13W PLS are as well not used here in europe, nevertheless I've got some.

I just got two new fixtures similar to this at Ha itat ReStore. I live em! I have four others that each have three PL 13 lamps. They are nice and blinky at startup.

Preheat Fluorescents forever!
I love diesel engines, rural/farm life and vintage lighting!

Is there any way they could let you keep this when they replace it? And what kind of cover did this have?

I used to have one of those plastic outdoor lights with a cylindrical shade, and it had one of these 13w PL lamps and did that pinging. I got bored with it so donated it back to Habitat, but I want another one of it now.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

我会使用两灯串联的方式更换镇流器,因为中国电压是220V,正好可以使用一个30W镇流器串联两灯工作!

我不会英文,所以我用中文,请你们用翻译网站翻译我打的字!

I can't in English, so I in Chinese, please use the translation website to translate my words!
