Philips F15T8 Made in Chile

Philips F15T8 Made in Chile

Click to view full size image

Here's an interesting find from the graduate lighting studio at my school today. I spotted this Philips warm white T8 fluorescent and noticed its country of manufacture, Chile. I had never seen a lamp for the North American market made there before. This is a typical Philips design with the shield logo.

I have seen a General Electric F15T8/CW made there a while ago, and regret not getting it.

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.

Nice to find a lamp made at Santiago, Chile. For a while in the 1990s these became common in Europe, many of our Philips 15W tubes were Chilean and now I regret not saving one, because they disappeared very quickly. It seems Philips also made GLS lamps in Chile but I have never come across one of those.

I ha e a 30 watt one my self as not too common here either.

No LED gadgets, spins too slowly.  Gotta  love preheat and MV. let the lights keep my meter spinning.

These would be made primarily for the South American market, as the lamps used in North America (US, Canada, Mexico) were made in the US back in the 90's.

Philips made the F15T8 and F30T8 in Chile for the American market from 1993-1999.

Good quality things are awesome. Cheaply made things are not.
