The Philips Alto F15T8 Trilogy

The Philips Alto F15T8 Trilogy

Click to view full size image

I have two of each of these Philips Alto F15T8's for my new desk lamp. These Polish made F15T8's are the next best thing behind the USA made versions.

Top to Bottom: Daylight Deluxe (6500K), Cool White (4100K), Soft White (3000K)

I'd love to do a psychology experiment with each of these three color tones in a kitchen or an office. After some research I did at school, there is significant evidence that cooler color temperatures are perceived as brighter even when lumen output is kept constant. Particularly interesting because the Cool White lamp here has the lowest lumen output of the three.

Those Philips Soft Whites have a fantastic color. Also, the Daylight Deluxe isn't a true Daylight Deluxe as the CRI is only 73, which is about what a regular Daylight is.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Yeah, just compared these three lamps looking at a photo and the colors in the Soft White condition look wonderful I'm using that Lithonia F15T8 fixture we found in my closet with the Philips Alto Soft White lamp seen here, and the various colors of my clothes look great!

I didn't know there was a difference between "Daylight" and "Daylight Deluxe." The Daylight Deluxe I have here is pretty nice and comfortable to look at, but it is a little bluish compared to actual sunlight. The CRI is definitely slightly flawed. I bet this Daylight Deluxe would make an awesome reading light.

True Daylight Deluxe has a CRI around 88-90.

I've got some of the true Daylight Deluxe and they look similar but render colors distinctly better. Granted, they are F40T12 and F96T12 lamps...

Just need some 3500K and 5000K!
