LPS Crosswalk sign

LPS Crosswalk sign

These signs are very common in Toronto and are usually accompanied by a set of flashing lights. The has an open bottom which allows the LPS lights to illuminate the crosswalk. In recent years the city has stopped relamping many of these fixtures and instead retrofits them to LED. I personally like the light the LPS gives off much more than the white light given off by the LEDs.

Agreed. They should have retrofitted them with amber LEDs to maintain the distinctive look at night too. LPS lamps are no longer made so I'm not surprised they stopped relamping them. It would be nice to catch them during a retrofit and score the LPS gear though.
