Mini yardblaster head with $5 Stainless Steel Bowl

Missing was the refractor. So I made a "SkyCap" or skyguard by buying a mid sized stainless steel mixing bowl. Drilled 3 holes and made a nice reflector. This was fun to make and much more durable than any refractor.

Kool! Isn't this just a bucket light, since it has the weird triangular slipfitter and doesn't have latch ears?

@ Keif: Yeah this is a yardblaster. Awesome reflector! Even better than a SkyGuard reflector since it's way more durable!

This was fun to make, and at minimal cost too. I only had to sand or grind down some rough edges of the inner rim of the yardblaster. The large washers (seen on the next pic) secure the bowl nice and tight on the yardblaster bracket.

Yeah OEM yardblaster buckets and reflectors are made of metal so thin that heavy winds rip them right off the screws holding them in. The reflector on this is probably more robust than the cast housing itself lol.

Made an outline with a socket, a pilot hole was drilled (~3/8") to fit my jigsaw blade, and carefully cut a nice round hole with a jigsaw blade for metal cutting.

Brilliant! I'll have to take a crack at doing this mod. I have several bucket lights that I got with busted refractors, this would be a decent FCO option.

There's a horse farm that is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) away from me, where the owner put a galvanized bucket on a barn-light just like this one. Last time I was out there, I wanted to get a picture, but it was raining like mad, so I postponed it 'til later. I'll get a picture hopefully sometime soon.
