GE power bracket. Appears to be 250 or 400w . Technically qualifies as a NEMA head since the lens assy will fit a regular NEMA head.

According to the label on the underside (visible in the full size picture) it is 120V 400W. I would guess it is mercury as it has no NEMA tag. It was probably made before manufacturers started putting the NEMA tags on their lanterns.

I don't think this is what's normally called a yardblaster.

Not a yardblaster at all. Yardblasters are residential lights. This is a Powr/Bracket like Keif mentioned. Looks like an early model. Those 400W 120V tags must've been added by the utility co or whoever installed it since GE never did such a thing.

Didn't the original GE Powr/Bracket lights come with Astrodome photocontrols as a standard feature?

They offered both. I assume twist-lock was the standard and Astrodome was the option.

Can I see some little aerials coming out of the box in the pic? Also there's what looks like a yagi aerial a bit higher up

Still there. The local utility company hasn't announced that privately leased area lights will be replaced yet, they'll even still relamp mercury fixtures if the ballast is good.

Interesting fixture.

I wonder why they didn't run the wires inside the arm?

@ xmas: those are the external connections to the overhead feed. The wires enter the base of the fixture since the ballast is inside the arm.

Not a “Yard-Blaster” by far. The GE Powr/Bracket is a quality & easily maintained streetlight; unlike cheap junk “yard-blaster” technology.

I don't know if I'd give yardblasters the compliment of 'technology'.
