That looks pretty ancient!

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

I THINK it might be from the late 40s. My early 40s GE ballasts say Schenectady, NY on the label. Mine aren't even potted! Each layer of windings on the four coils is insulated with paper and then all four coils are wrapped in paper. The only part with tar is the capacitor, and it's just a couple of dots, probably just to keep it from moving around inside.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

That's a neat ballast you have. Is it loud when you run it?

Keep government out of the lighting industry.

Definitely from the 40's due to the font in "General Electric." Interesting is says "for use with 14 watt fluorescent lamp" but the schematic shows two lamps.

Preheat and T-12 fluorescents forever! Down with LED's and instant start T-8 fluorescents.

Definitely 1940s font, just like the original GE "TULAMP" ballasts in many of my lights in my shop.

Preheat Fluorescents forever!
I love diesel engines, rural/farm life and vintage lighting!
