Nice! This is my favorite version of the OV-25. I like this position of the PC socket. The 3rd generation has it further back and the flat-bottom and transitional version have the PC way far forward. For some unknown reason I've always favored these, though they're not super common here. Granted, they probably were at some point but the most common OV-25 left here nowadays is the flatbottom version. They used those in the early 60s here.

Please check out my newly-updated website! McCann Lighting Company is where my street light collection is displayed in detail.

Interesting...I got this off eBay, and the seller was in up state NY...but this could've been a privately owned luminaire, and not from a utility.

The utility companies in New York were different from those in Rhode Island back then. Today National Grid Electric has territory in RI, MA, and NY. All were local buyouts since the late 90s.

I might be getting one of these by summertime. Will have the red varnished ballast. Dunno when they stopped with the ree varnish but my 1968 westy nema doesnt have it.

Nice! There are a few of these around here, with a couple in service, MV. The 4th gen version is more common though here.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Unfortunately, the 4th gen was no where close to the build quality of the older models. Would I collect a 4th gen...yes, but only if it were NOS.

This one HAD red varnish on it...or what's left of it. I usually paint the block with high temp flat black...I know it's not original, but it looks good and hides the flaws that come with age.

Does this have a label in it?

Power provider: Southern California Edison (SCE)

- Lamp and fixture collector
- Switch and receptacle collector.
- Here to work, here to serve, here to save.

It's been a while since I've had this out and looked at it...I don't remember right now. If I get a chance, I'll take it out of storage this week end and see.
