Westinghouse Gumball

Westinghouse Gumball

This gem is one of about 2 DOZEN that light the roads of a trailer park on the south side of Columbus . About 75% of them still work and most are still incandescent ! (a few have been converted to CFL)

The poles are rather short by today's standards, less than 20 ft.

No gumballs in use in my area, although I did see on on Craigslist for $20. But it was almost 3 hours away. If it had been local I would have gotten it, in a heartbeat.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Nice find. There are a lot of gumballs over here but almost all of them are modern PSMH units. There's a small town less than an hour away with vintage remote ballasted mercury gumballs though.

$20 for a gumball is a very good deal. I paid anywhere from $40 to $100 for my gumballs.

The ONLY reason these still even exist is the fact they're on private roads. If these would have been of a city owned road they would have been trashed DECADES ago . These are the only vintage gumballs in this area that I know of (other than the one I have )

If these EVER come down I'd like to get at least 1 , assuming there are any that aren't full of 10 zillion BB holes like the refractor on the one pictured !

No offense to people that live in a trailer park, but I'm kinda not surprised that they have BB holes in them.

Definitely . I have a feeling that these will be there for as long as the trailer park is there, which will probably be a looooooong time !
