Cheers! It was certainly a pain to do as I had to make up a few power leads for them all. Was worth it to watch them all start deep red and then watch the yellow spread from around the electrodes and up the lamp I love the run-up of SOX

It was quite bright! Total power including ballast losses was about 700 watts.

Nice video. It looks as if you have dimmed all the lamp at the end. Did you catch the puzzled expression of passer byes in the street below?

Heh, luckily the rear of my house faces nothing but countryside otherwise I have no doubt that somebody would either phone the fire brigade thinking that the house was on fire or phone the police, thinking that I've got a canabis farm on the go

Was just playing with the variable ND filter at the end.

Nope, and I highly doubt I ever will.
I wouldn't have included it anyway since it's not really a common wattage.

I agree as 10w SOX lamps were common as muck in the 1980's by 1990 they fell out of fashion, due to the PL/C compact Fluorescent Lamps, I wonder if Jeremy is still with us, as a while ago he was selling 10 watt SOX lamps on E-bay.

What kind of fixture would a SOX10 be in? I don't even remember seeing SOX18s in the UK, although I saw a fair few in Amsterdam, as they don't believe in overlighting the crap out of everything.

18w SOX was, and still is used in bulkhead luminaires but are getting quite thin on the ground these days...

don't think I've ever seen a SOX bulkhead or certainly not noticed one like. Growing up in a town that has been trying to extinct SOX for the last two decades+ hasn't helped. When we moved here all the way back in the early 90s it wasn't long after they were ripping up all the concrete columns and sticking new ones in with SON.

the 10w SOX Lamp was used in the Pathlite 10 which was a SOX version of the Pathlight Tungsten Bulkhead, they were also used in the Nightwatch 10 Bulkhead which was a smaller verison of the Nightwatch 18 which is the 18 watt Version.
