Here's a 175w MV lantern I had found on Craigslist for 20 bucks, which was conveniently located right on the way to band practice yesterday. In this shot, I disassembled it to inspect the components. The seller said it quit working and replaced it with an LED glare bomb. He said he actually liked the light from the old MV better, lol.

Anyway, the strange thing about this is that the housing/ballast is 1997 T&B ElectriPak with a clear mid-late 90's well used Phillips while the diffuser is an old glass Line Materials (1960's?). The 'spare bulb' happens to be a GE Bonus-Line H175W39-22 that fired right up and appears to have some light usage. Pretty sweet. The only problem I could find was that one of the ballast terminals are loose and once working, the ballast buzzes like a fire alarm, not surprisingly. I may see if a new coat of varnish makes it good again.

GE Bonusline date code: 7-3

Nice find on the glass lens. Also on the bonus line merc. So maybe some solder of the terminal would help?

This ballast has aluminum coils so soldering won't help. I think I just need to carefully re-squeeze the terminal crimps where the aluminum wire terminates.
