These are still available in shops near us, they don't last very long but do give off a nice bright light. I've put one in the fitting in our cellar because I couldn't be doing with the warm up time & dim light from the CFL that was in.

Status bulbs are really nothing too special and they won't last very long as my cousin had Status halogen and incandescent GLS bulbs and they all did not last very long.

Ooh yeah would like instant light in cellars as they can be creepy to walk in when dimly lit. What was the make of the CFL that was in the cellar fixture?

The CFL was a Philips brand, a few years old too.

Just had a look, it's not a Genie, it's more like the GE GLS CFL in your album.

Mine is still working, it's now in a fitting that gets little use, I think I might replace it & preserve it in my collection.

All depends how long it was on for I suppose, I've known quality filament lamps last longer than that.

Indeed, well it was from bedroom nightly use with frequently on off switching. Apparently the said EOL CFL still lights up but stays at warm up brightness and it's ballast making a loud audible buzz. I'm replacing this CFL

Update: This has been in use since 20th July in the Coughtrie SP 6 bulkhead outside our back garden door and its temporarily getting overnight use til August 4th because I'm having to sleep in the conservatory as we have visitors from Canada occupying both my bedroom and computer room

Update:

As of 3rd November 2018 I am sad to say that whilst I went out in the garden and in less of a minute it flickered and EOL peacefully without tripping the CB

Also we had a firework party tonight so it also had some adequate use

Lasted 1 year
Installed 20th July 2017
EOL 3rd November 2018

@Keiron: There are some on eBay, just had a look! Sad to hear your electrical shop no longer sell 150W incandescents and I do hope that its not selling LED stock 100%!!!

@Dan: Cool! Thats brilliant to hear that they still sell STATUS incandescent lamps, I'd take them over LED still

The replacement bulb I am unsure what to use now

@Keiron: It a sad fact they are required so in order to keep up with the lighting market or they face closure

Great Idea I may as well hoard many 150W lamps as possibly as I can I will hold on to the EOL Status lamp too

Am I rite Status bought the old lamp making machines from the Osram works here and set them up in India to make incandescents perhaps James has more info on this or am I wrong?

Interested in the history of electric lighting and incandescent in particular and neon glow lamps.
